Daily essentials including food and beauty care products in all Tesco outlets in Malaysia are cheaper after the launch of a nationwide price cut yesterday, with the maximum discount at 38%.
The price cut is permanent.
The prices of 870 items from 23 categories of daily essentials sold in all Tesco hypermarkets including fresh food, health and cleaning products were cut, with its largest discount on baby diapers.
All prices of the items were reduced by an average of 9% compared with the normal retail price, said Tesco Stores (M) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Chris Bush during the launch at the Mutiara Damansara outlet yesterday.
Bush also revealed that four new Tesco hypermarkets would be opened in Johor Baru, Alor Star, Kota Baru and Taiping soon.
Also present during the launch were Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry deputy secretary-general Datuk Mohamedsha Mislam, the ministry's Selangor state department director Mohd Nazri Osman and Tesco chairman Datuk Mohamed Abid.
