SNS News : Yuletide Spirit at Gurney Plaza

THE spirit of Christmas is in the air with shopping malls and hotels putting up Christmas trees and decorations.

At Gurney Plaza in Penang, a 9.14m-tall Christmas tree has been put up at the foyer to welcome shoppers.

Decked with balls, peacock feathers, sequins and other decorations, it is surrounded by five smaller Christmas trees.

Huge colourful party masks have also been hung up at the shopping centre to create an aura of mystery.

A beautiful fountain, costing RM30,000, was installed to give shoppers a nice background for their photographs.

Gurney Plaza public relations manager Pauline Teh said the Visual Merchandise Department spent weeks making and putting up the Christmas decorations.

During the shopping centre’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony recently, kindergarten and primary school students sang Christmas carols and danced to entertain the crowd.

A person dressed as Santa Claus gave out goodies to children.

The Eastern & Oriental Hotel in Penang also held its Christmas tree lighting ceremony recently.
Christmas carols were sung during the event which was attended by some 400 guests.
