SNS News : Queensbay Mall Opens in Penang

New Shopping Experience Up North

MORE than 100 retail outlets and the Jusco Departmental Store at Queensbay Mall in Bayan Baru, Penang, will open today(Friday).

The mall's general manager Tony Teo said Queensbay, the biggest retail property development on the island, offers a totally new shopping experience to customers in the northern states.

“Queensbay Mall is unique in every way, from its architectural design, floor layout and most importantly, the excellent tenant mix,” he said at the Queensbay pre-launch at Cititel Hotel yesterday.

Teo said the mall, with free parking facility, would be open from 10am to 10.30pm daily.
“We have about 4,500 parking lots. During the first week, there will be 70 personnel directing traffic,” he added.

State Tourism Development and Environ-ment Committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow said the opening of Queensbay enabled Penang to position itself as a shopping heaven.
He later flagged off a convoy of 60 trishaws from the hotel to mark the pre-launch.

The trishaws adorned with colourful Queens-bay umbrellas carried the mall's retail tenants and members from the hospitality and tourism industry through the streets in George Town.

One of the key attraction of Queensbay Mall is that more than 60 established retailers are making their inaugural entry into Penang by opening their retail stores in Queensbay Mall. The Anchor tenant is Jusco and Junior Anchors are Gap, Zara, Borders, Harvey Norman, GSC, Padini Concept Store, Voir Gallery, Sen Q, In Base, Toy 'R' Us, Nichii Fashion City and many more.
