SNS News : Pavilion KL Attracts New Brands

Pavilion KL attracts new brands

THE retail podium of the 6-star Pavilion Kuala Lumpur mixed development has succeeded in filling up 18% of its 1.37 million sq ft of retail space with new retail brands.

KL Pavilion Sdn Bhd director of leasing and marketing Joyce Yap adds that it is targeting to have 30% of net lettable space to be occupied by new brands. “Most of the leading brands, which are in Malaysia or targeting to enter the country, have signed up with the Pavilion,” she said yesterday at the Pavilion KL’s topping-up ceremony for the retail podium.

The landowner for the 12.6-acre iconic project is Urusharta Cermerlang Sdn Bhd and KL Pavilion is the development manager. KL Pavilion chief executive officer Brisco Fan announced that the 7-storey retail podium was on track to open its doors on Sept 20 next year.

“Already 950,000 sq ft [70%] of the net lettable space has been snapped up by some of the best known
retail brands such as Hermes, Montblanc, Escada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bally, Tiffany & Co and Versace, which add up to Pavilion KL’s international tenant mix,” Fan said.

He added that the management team was working hard to ensure that the promised retail experience of Pavilion KL be delivered in time for Visit Malaysia Year 2007. On when the remaining space will be leased out, Yap said the shopping mall will be fully leased upon its opening.

“If the CEO [Fan] gives the green light, I can have the space leased up within in a month. However, as the opening is in a year, we anticipate a lot of new brands coming on stream.

In order to attract new retailers, we must have the right lots to offer.” The KL Pavilion development consists of the retail podium, two blocks of luxury residential towers and a 19-storey office tower, which total a gross development value of RM3 billion. In the pipeline are the plans for a 180-room boutique hotel.

Also present at the ceremony were Urusharta Cemerlang chairman Tan Sri Zainol Mahmood, Urusharta Cemerlang deputy chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Ismail and KL Pavilion centre management director John Sironic. The event was officiated by Federal Territories deputy minister Datuk Wira
