Metrojaya in Berjaya Times Square

Priority for shopping in comfort
By CHRISTINA LOW

Parking lots and distance seem to be the key factor in determining which shopping mall to go to each time we crave shopping.

Every floor is decorated with sky-blue murals, clouds and birds. But when shopping at Metrojaya in Berjaya Times Square, shoppers can forget about that.

“Why bother driving when there’s a monorail that stops right in front of the shopping mall with pedestrian bridges connected to the mall itself,” said Metrojaya Advertising and Promotions general manager Alice Tan.

She feels that shopping in comfort is important therefore one should not be stressed out before that.

The about a-month-old outlet which took over the space once occupied by Debenhams spans four floors offering items from men’s wear, cosmetics, fragrances, ladies wear, children apparels, teenage fashion, toys and home accessories.

Every floor is decorated with sky-blue murals, clouds and birds for a fairytale-like atmosphere.

“We want to create the feeling of airiness with a pinch of ‘wowness’ in it,” said Tan, adding that each Metrojaya outlet is different.

Although there is already an existing Metrojaya outlet in Bukit Bintang which is 15 minutes walk away, Tan said the new store is going to cater to a younger crowd as well as tourists.

“Customers who frequent the existing outlet in Bukit Bintang knows it well enough that they are able to find what they want easily there,” said Tan.

She added that the new outlet in Berjaya Times Square is a full-fledged departmental store with more exclusive brands as well as Metrojaya’s house brands like Somerset Bay, East India and Living Quarters.

It also offers a mix of affordable, low-and high-end apparel and accessories.
The 34,848 sq m store on the first floor are where cosmetic, fragrance and ladies accessories are located.

Robe Di Kappa is exclusive to the new outlet. The outlet is also equipped with disabled-friendly lifts on every floor.

“We have learned what we lacked in our previous stores and try to improve and provide new services like these in our new stores,” said Tan.

Exclusive brands featured in Metro- jaya’s sixth outlet like Robe Di Kappa and DC Superheroes will be joining its house brands.

There is also a Customer Service Centre on the second floor especially for its card members.
Besides the usual gift-wrap service, the centre also has a lounge for tired shoppers to rest while waiting for their family members with free Internet-friendly services.

According to Tan, Metrojaya that has been in business for the past 30 years hopes to not only provide customers with more brands and quality-added services but also make Metrojaya a one-stop fashion store for all.
